Qatar has the most number of GSAS-certified green buildings

Qatar’s sustainable development and climate change adaptation efforts have started to bear fruit, as more and more governments and private institutions are adopting sustainable practices and green building standards.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change reports 1,406 sustainable certified buildings in Qatar.

With the high demand in designing green buildings among government departments, the country’s business sector has also developed new sustainable building designs to minimize power and water usage as well as waste.

GSAS green building rating system under the Gulf Organization for Research and Development (GORD) is an internationally recognized rating system for the efficient operation and maintenance of existing buildings. It is MENA region’s first green building certification system which aims to improve the efficiency and maintenance of facilities.
