Qatari startup to compete for global Hult Prize award

The first Qatari startup ‘Revive’, qualifies to compete for the international Hult Prize contest, which is the world’s largest startup program.

University students from all parts of the world will compete to bag a staggering $1,000,000 seed capital prize given by president Clinton at the UN Headquarters to help winning teams launch social enterprises.

Held annually, this year’s theme challenges students to address pressing social issues such as food systems and food securities, build the foundations of a venture that will create jobs, stimulate economies, and improve the overall outcome for 10m people by 2030.

Revive’s innovative project is to introduce a new technology to Qatar that will preserve surplus food and redistribute to those in need.

“It has been an incredible journey, one which would not have been possible without the tremendous support and motivation we have received. We would like to thank Qatar University, Nama Centre for Social Development and Entrepreneurship, MBK Holdings, Innovation Cafe, and all the experts and mentors we have met along the way for their unconditional support. We hope we can take Revive much forward and bring the change we wish to see in the world,” states the founders of Revive, Kateba al-Ghazali, Sumaya Yusuf, and Nosheen Zehra from Qatar University.

Revive is among the 42 team of startups who qualified for the prestigious Hult competition.
